No matter the reason for the move, being homesick happens to almost everybody. The feeling of missing something or someone from your old home can be strong and sometimes hard to move past.
Tips for what to do when you’re feeling homesick:
-Accept the feelings. There is nothing wrong with being homesick, you don’t need to pretend that everything is ok if it doesn’t feel right.
-Take some small steps to get connected with your new community. The unknown is scary, so become familiar with your surroundings and you might even really like where you are.
-Meet people. Meeting people who know the area is a great way to get to know the best spots and it is a great way to get the inside scoop on your new neighborhood.
-Bring things you miss from your old home into your new home. If there’s a certain scent or music that makes you feel like home, bring it into your new house.
-Embrace the change. Try to view your move as an opportunity to experience NEW things.
